the story of the Horse zodiac

The Year of Horse, one of the Chinese zodiac signs, is passing. At the last day of the Year of Horse, I’d like to introduce you the story of the horse zodiac.

The Horse is the seventh sign of the 12-year rotation of animals that appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. People who are born in the Year of Horse are considered in the auspicious year in 2014.

As the legend saying, there was a powerful Pegasus, with wins, which could fly, run and even swim. Because of its extraordinary talents, it was employed by the Jade Emperor. The Jade Emperor loved it so ardently that it turned to be imperious and unbridle, never controlling itself. One day, the horse ran to the East China Sea and wanted to break through it. The turtle guards led the sea troops to resist the horse, which exasperated the horse. The horse killed all of the troops. The king of the Sea brought the lawsuit against the horse to the Jade Emperor. After listening to the horse’s accusation, the Emperor cut the horse’s wins and put the horse under the Kunlun Mountains for 300 years. More than 200 years passed, when the primogenitor of the human beings passed by the Kunlun Mountains, the horse yelled to the primogenitor sincerely: My virtuous human, came to help me out. I would like to go with you and do everything for you faithfully. The primogenitor was sympathized and followed the horse’s saying. He cut off the peach trees on the mountains. Suddenly the mountains were broken with a slam-bang sound and the horse leapt out off the mountains.

In order to pay back the human’s saving its life, the horse came to the earth with the primogenitor, and worked for human beings for whole life. The horse pulling the dray to plough, bearing good on its back, being willing to bear the burden of hard work. Even in battles, the horse marched forward courageously, going through fire and water with its masters, without any complains. From then on, the horse became the inseparable friend with human beings. When the Jade Emperor wanted to choose 12 animals to be the zodiacs, the human recommended the horse at the utmost. The Jade Emperor agreed because he saw the horse atoning for its crimes by contributing its whole life to the human beings.

The horse’s characteristics of being clever, brave, loyal and industrious make it to be a reliable and useful friend of human beings. Because of these virtues, the horse is worthy of being one of the Chinese zodiacs. The horse occupies the exalted place in China, which symbolizes to be the first or take the lead and win instant, even expssing the ethos of constant striving and animated life.

Personality

The horse ranks seventh of all the animals in the Chinese zodiac. People who were born in the year of the horse are extremely animated, active and energetic. Horses love to be in a crowd, and they can usually be seen in such occasions as concerts, theaters, meetings, sporting occasions, and parties. With a deft sense of humor, horses are masters of repartee. They love to take center stage and delight audiences everywhere. Sometimes, the horse is a little self-centered, but it doesn't mean that he will not be interested in any problems except his own. However, a horse person is more cunning than intelligent, which is probably the fact that most horse people are lack of confidence.
